Part-historic record, part-creative platform, thesthing.com is a love letter to that thing you drew in high school (over and over again).
Through rich storytelling, creative collaborations and on point merch, thesthing.com aims to inform, inspire and support the community that scratch, scribble, ink and spray it. Everywhere. Who knows why. Since who knows when.

To capture the spirit of the enigmatic symbol - a symbol with no rules, a symbol made by many - without limiting creativity or asserting ownership.

We built a functional, content-driven identity system, placing emphasis on the common ownership of the symbol and the collaborative nature of the creative process.
This platform gave the brand the tools and confidence required to clearly articulate their story. We worked with thesthing.com to take merchandise from concept to placement in Urban Outfitters stores, throughout multiple markets worldwide.
Through a series of charity auctions thesthing.com continues to fund art supplies for children living in transitional housing via their partners at freeartsnyc.org
Illustrations by Bryce Wong, Cody Weiler, Sticcy and Stephen Heffernan.
